Hadith: No racial superiority, only piety makes someone superior

It is reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:

O people! You all share one God and one father.

An Arab is no better than a non-Arab, and a non-Arab is no better than an Arab.

Whites are not superior to blacks, nor are blacks superior to whites. Only piety makes one person better than another.

In Arabic:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَلَا إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ وَاحِدٌ ، أَلَا لَا فَضْلَ لِعَرَبِيٍّ عَلَى أَعْجَمِيٍّ وَلَا لِعَجَمِيٍّ عَلَى عَرَبِيٍّ وَلَا لِأَحْمَرَ عَلَى أَسْوَدَ وَلَا أَسْوَدَ عَلَى أَحْمَرَ إِلَّا بِالتَّقْوَى ، أَبَلَّغْتُ ؟

Notes

This hadith is in the Musnad of Ahmad ibn Hanbal.

According to the beginning of the report, this statement was made during a sermon (khutba), which is remarkable to imagine.
